Le Apartment

I have been meaning to do this post for awhile now, but keep putting it off because usually the floors here are scattered with toys, the bed is unmade & there is usually a large pile of laundry next to the bookshelves behind me. Plus, this place is still a work in progress. We still have curtains to hang before the summer heat arrives, I have more pennant banners to hang in Collin's room, we need some serious lighting up in here, etc, etc, etc.

Then yesterday, I went to Fresh & Easy & scored clearance flowers. I love having flowers in my house, & wouldn't you know it?! Having them here somehow inspires me to keep this place tidy.

Collin & I have been here for three months now & we enjoy it. There are positives & negatives to apartment living & we are no stranger to neighbor's noises, but then again, a rambunctious two year old can also get pretty loud, so who are we to complain?

The yarn wreath was made by yours truly....that means I made it. You know, by myself? I basically made that wreath my bitch. Word.

We live in a one bedroom apartment, I sleep in the, "living room," where I plan to add a metric load of pillows agains the wall to make my bed look like a giant couch. No one ever visit us, anyway & this arrangement works for us....& my wallet.

J & I made the art piece above the couch/bed. I found some tablecloths on clearance at le Target for $4, snatched 'em up, took a pair of scissors to them & stapled the fabric to some canvasses. Also? OBSESSED with The Hunger Games. Finished book one & working on two.

The weather has been so perfect lately. So Collin makes his home on the porch most evenings.

J visits us every weekend & I wanted him to have a piece of his kids here, too. This is my favorite wall ever.

The kitchen here is pretty rad.

I made the octopus art myself. I just Googled octopus clip art, saved some to my computer & screwed around with them in Photoshop. I tinted them, duplicated them & just tweaked things until I got what I wanted. I'm actually super proud of these bad boys.

The J loves H print I shared with you guys yesterday hanging right above my desk area. You know, the one you can customize with your own initials?!?! Get on it!

This single Mama is exhausted & I promised myself I'd go to bed early tonight, so I'm gonna go to bed & read The Hunger Games until 3AM. You know, going to bed early & all.

  1. What an awesome apartment!!! I totally do smaller & frugal spaces so I'd have picked the 1 bedroom too if it was just Eli and me.

    You decorated it so cute!

I have those books too. I broke down and bought the hardbounds from walmart and can't wait to start them. I was already reading two books at the same time when I bought them so I'm trying to finish them before I start. I'm enjoying them too so it's hard! SO MANY BOOKS SO LITTLE TIME!!!!

Glad to see you posting again.

  3. I love your apt! I love how it's decorated! We TRIED to get a 1 bedroom here, but there's some kind of law in CO that says if there is 3 people we have to rent a minimum 2 bedroom. So, it's more expensive. wah wah. I totally scrolled through the pics sssooo slowly pretending like I was really seeing it.

    1. That stinks! I got lucky in that it's only me & Collin doesn't, "count." I wish you could see it! Haha! It's small, but it works just fine for us.
